“This [U.S. Constitution] is likely to be well administered for a course of years and can only end in Despotism… when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other.”
– Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father (81 years of age), Speech at the Signing of the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787.
I have not written about “fiscal cliff” or debt ceiling issues. The data is simple: there is no feasible economic growth to solve these problems and more so, tied to over $1,000 trillion in OTC notional derivatives (imaginary money) embedded in the quasi-private Federal Reserve Bank’s largest member banks and financial institutions that have been suspended from the black hole since 2008. The Federal Reserve Bank’s printed $20 trillion+ over that period (The Federal Reserve Bank’s Love Affair in QE 0-1-2-3∞, The Federal Reserve Bank is Naked, Beyond QE) is not enough for its member banks as the authorities are looking to help “manage” (protect) Americans from their $19 trillion in retirement savings accounts. It seems an ideal environment. Before a few fall off their chairs, it can be useful to look beyond chart movements as the truth leaks out from time to time for some time.
First, I would like to share a monetary experience not found in Ph.D. economics. After the communist North Viet Nam took over the more free and prosperous South in 1975, the communist government “State” confiscated all the guns (and priests). After an interlude, the State introduced without warning a new currency that took immediate effect. Gold disappeared. People were allowed to exchange a certain amount of old currency for the new currency to “equalize” everyone – control an unstated purpose and the State wanted to know who had what. What people could not exchange became worthless paper. There was panic, pandemonium as people furiously spent the old currency on food and goods, pushing up prices; our produce could not keep up with demand. Those with cash below the exchange limit took the old currency, but that did not solve the problem of inflation and another currency revaluation. People with gold (few put anything in banks) were insulated from these changes and preserved some independence from the State. Sociologist Vu Duc Vuong explained the Vietnamese’s centuries-old attachment to gold, “Empires may fall, currencies may change… gold will always survive.”
Indoctrination was constant. To protect the population, the communists shot people who fled the country to prove the dangers of having a gun. The State had a “see something, say something” program where their informers reported back suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Poor Mom was reported to the State when she sold our pool table because the cash could be used to fund terrorism against the State, such as to feed the family. The State was also concerned about our diet and dropped by to see what we were eating in case the food differed from what the collective ate. To protect us from leaving the communist paradise, the State visited to ensure we were safe. As a shared sacrifice, the State asked to borrow our home permanently, never mind that we lived there. They took it over when we disappeared.
The village elders have a saying that is translated as: “Hide the hand that throws the stone.” It may be that it is a hand that plays all sides, loyal to no nation or peoples.
I. Ideological Subversion, Psychological Warfare: (Back) Into the Lion’s Den
Ideological subversion or psychological warfare is a “process which is legitimate, overt… to change the perception of reality of every American to such an extent that despite the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families…their country… [E]xposure to true information does not matter anymore. A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him.”
“[P]romise people all kind of goodies and “paradise of earth”, to destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principal of free-market competition and to put a “Big Brother” government… In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism, American patriotism…”
“[I]ndividuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion: publishers, editors, journalists, actors, educationalists, professors .. business circles… would be promoted to positions of power through media and public opinion manipulation… large circulation, established, conservative media…filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals, so-called academic circles. Cynical, ego-centric people…are the most recruitable people, people who lack moral principals, who are either too greedy or suffer from self-importance…”
“The result? The result you can see. Most of the people who graduated in the ‘60s, drop outs or half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the governments, civil service, business, mass media, educational system… They are contaminated.”
“The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years. Actually, it’s over fulfilled… United States is in a state of war. Undeclared total war against the basic principals and foundations of this system. And the initiator of this war is not comrade Andropov [Head KGB].” – Yuri Bezmenov, KGB Subversion Expert, Soviet Defector excerpts from 1984 Interview.Transcript further below. (1 Hour Interview Full Version)
Yuri Bezmenov was perhaps aware more than most that a few notable Wall Street banks and their founding of their quasi-private Federal Reserve Bank, and U.S. industrialists-corporations (Ford, GE, Rockefeller’s Standard Oil…) financed among others, communists of the Bolshevik Revolution later renamed Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1952, building up the Soviet Union whose weaponry was later used against U.S. soldiers and the Vietnamese in the South during the Viet Nam war. These financiers backed both Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Hitler’s Nazi rise into the profits of World War II that gave birth to a set of twins, the New Deal and the New Order. The financiers, FDR, Hitler and Mussolini shared mutual admiration for State control and low regard for free markets.
By the 1930s
In an interview with the New York Times on June 4, 1933 Premier Mussolini praised, “President Roosevelt’s new plan for coordination of industry follows precisely the lines of Fascist cooperation… Dictatorships are inevitable.” (“Mussolini Sees World Driven Toward Fascism.”) Another term for this was given by America’s leading socialist, Norman Thomas (1884-1968) who stated the New Deal was not socialism but “in effect what President Roosevelt has done has been to lay the foundation for an immense structure of State capitalism.” (“Is the New Deal Socialism? A Socialist Answers.” NYT June 18, 1933).
As signs of mutual admiration, “More than 100,000 Chicagoans… roared a tremendous welcome late this afternoon to 100 gallant Italian airmen under the command of [Mussolini’s] General Balbo” (“100,000 at Chicago Greet Balbo Fleet.” NYT July 13, 1933). A week later, “New York…had craned its neck in admiring wonder” when Mussolini’s General Balbo and his airmen flew in from Chicago (“Italian Wins New Acclaim Here: Honored by Mayor.” NYT July 22, 1933). General Balbo reported to Premier Mussolini that President Roosevelt ‘showed the highest esteem for Premier Mussolini’ and that anti-Fascism in the U.S. is a myth (“Anti-Fascism a Myth, Says Balbo.” NYT July 23, 1933).
In Rockefeller City (New York City), the Rockefellers and Mussolini’s emissary announced the building of two adjoining structures on New York’s Fifth Avenue to house Italian and German offices (“Rockefeller to Add Two Units.” NYT July 1, 1933). At the Rockefellers et al ground breaking for the Italian building, the New York Times reported “Hands were raised in Fascist salutes and many voices in chorus shouted the battle cry of the Fascist legions” (“Italy’s Unit Begins on 5th Av. Center.” NYT July 13, 1933).
A month later, Mussolini was ‘gratified’ to say that “the President [Roosevelt] is no longer bound by the dogmas of economic liberalism” and praised again the “atmosphere” of the American experiment [New Deal] is “similar to the atmosphere of fascism” (“Europe Watches the American Adventure: If Our Program of Planned Economy is Successful, Other Countries Will be Disposed to Try Similar Methods.” NYT Aug. 13, 1933). Bold is my emphasis.
When asked about happiness under Fascism, Premier Mussolini responded with a “booming voice” matching “thunder”: “Fascism denies the materialistic conception of happiness as a possibility.” Mussolini added, “I am a man – a man working for humanity and mankind.” (“Mussolini Holds New Deal is Sound.” NYT September 8, 1934).
[It seems at least the French is honest about the outcome of the “American Adventure” into a “Planned Economy” 80 years later. In a radio interview reported on January 31, 2013, France’s employment minister Michel Sapin said, “There is a state [France] but it is a totally bankrupt state.” M. Sapin made a factual statement, but it seems more interesting he used the term ‘state’ and not ‘country’ . In Part II, we learn more about what this subtlety means.
How can Premier Mussolini and Socialist Thomas call FDR’s reshaping the U.S. economy as “Fascist cooperation” or “State capitalism” when the New York Times called it a socialist “Planned Economy”? There is no contradiction: Fascist cooperation or State capitalism refers to power concentrated to the top few who direct the “planned economy” for society – the bottom, equal, classless collective “99.9%”. In economics, the terms “central planner”, “social planner” or “benevolent dictator” denote a utility maximization problem of a centrally planned economic system in which the “benevolent dictator” at the top “maximizes utility” benefit collectively for society. There is no need for competition. To Karl Marx, socialism is but a transition to its purer form in communism, in which all power is concentrated to the benevolent dictator for the benefit of society. In other words, what emerges from this two-tier system is communism, what Mussolini called a dictatorship.
Marxism-Leninism – Lenin led the communist Bolsheviks funded by the Wall Street-US corporates-industrialists that funded the Soviets, Hitler, FDR… – is the ideology of Communism. Marxism-Leninism, in other words, communism is what former Soviet KGB subversion, brainwashing expert Yuri Bezmenov stated has been successfully pumped into the heads of Americans by the 1960s.]
This is just a look at what is reported in the newspapers and a brief glimpse into what was uncovered in declassified State Department and other records (Sutton). Part II takes a closer look at the financing of ideological subversion in the United States and why. It explains why most people remain unaware of what has been done to themselves and to the United States and what is unfolding.
The video (LINK) on the right is Yuri Bezmenov’s1-hour lecture on what happens during each stage of ideological subversion. It helps to explain the financing and the mechanism for these activities in Part II.
He speaks about ways to reverse the effects of subversion, the most powerful being something that money, power and weapons can not buy or destroy. Part II looks at the process to erode it, co-opted or a new version is created.
TRANSCRIPT
This transcript is taken from 15 minutes of excerpts from the full interview with Yuri Bezmenov. It outlines the four stages of “ideological subversion” or psychological warfare, or simply, brainwashing that has been successfully implemented in the United States and Viet Nam, and elsewhere. The interviewer is G. Edward Griffin, an author and authority on the founding of the Federal Reserve Bank system, “The Creature from Jekyll Island“.
Yuri Bezmenov: “Ideological subversion” “psychological warfare” is the process which is legitimate, overt, and open. You can see it with your own eyes. All you have to do, all American mass media has to do is to unplug the bananas from their ears, open up their eyes and they can see it. There is no mystery. There is nothing to do with espionage.
I know that espionage and intelligence gathering looks more romantic. It sells more deodorants through advertising, probably. That’s why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond-type of thrillers. But in reality, the main emphasis of the KGB is not in the area of intelligence at all. According to my opinion and the opinion of many defectors of my caliber, only 15% of time, money and manpower is spent on espionage as such.
The other 85% is a slow process which we call either “ideological subversion” or “active measures” or [KGB term] or “psychological warfare”. What it basically means is to change the perception of reality of every American to such an extent that despite the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community and their country.
It’s a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided in four basic stages, the first one being demoralization.
Stage I. Demoralization
It takes 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years which requires to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy, exposed to the ideology of the enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism, American patriotism.
Most of the activity of the department was to compile huge amounts, volume of information on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion: publishers, editors, journalists, actors, educationalists, professors of political science, members of parliament, representatives of business circles. Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups: Those who were told the Soviet foreign policy – they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public opinion manipulation. Those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated or executed physically come-revolution.
Same way as in the small town of Hue in South Viet Nam. Several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night where the city was captured by Viet Cong for only two days. And American CIA could never figure out how could possibly the communists know each individual, where he lives, where to get him, and would be arrested in one night basically in some four hours before dawn, put in a van, taken out of the city limits and shot.
The answer is very simple: long before communists occupied the city, there was expansive network of informers, local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion including barbers and taxi drivers. Everyone who was sympathetic to the United States was executed. Same thing was done under the guidance of the Soviet embassy in Hanoi and same thing I was doing in New Delhi.
To my horror, I discovered that in the files were people doomed to execution. There were names of pro-Soviet journalists [in New Delhi] with whom I was personally friendly. They were idealistically minded leftists who made several visits to USSR and yet the KGB decided that come-revolution or drastic changes in the political structure of India – they will have to go — Because they know too much.
Simply because you see, the “useful idiots” – the leftists who are idealistically believing in the beauty of Soviet socialist or communist or whatever system. When they get disillusioned, they become the worst enemies.
That’s why my KGB instructors specifically made a point: never bother with leftists. Forget about these political prostitutes. Aim higher. This was my instruction. Reach filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals, so-called academic circles. Cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with angelic expression and tell you a lie. This are the most recruitable people, people who lack moral principals, who are either too greedy or suffer from self-importance. They feel that they, they matter a lot. These are the people who KGB people wanted very much to recruit.
G. Edward Griffin: But to eliminate the others, to execute the others. Don’t they serve some purpose?
They serve purpose only at the stage of destabilization of a nation. For example, you’re a leftist in United States. All the professors and all this beautiful civil rights defenders. They are instrumental in the process of the subversion only to destabilize a nation. When their job is completed, they are not needed anymore. They know too much. Some of them, when they get disillusioned, when they see that Marxist-Leninist come to power, obviously they get offended. They think they will come to power. That will never happen, of course. They will be lined up against the wall and shot. But they may turn into the most bitter enemies of Marxists-Leninists when they come to power.
And that’s what happened in Nicaragua. You remember most former Marxist- Leninists were either put to prison or one of them split and now he is working against Sandinistas. It happened in Grenada when Maurice Bishop, was, he was already a Marxist. He was executed by a new Marxist who was more Marxist than this Marxist.
Same thing happened in Afghanistan when first there was Taraki. He was killed by Amin, who was then killed by Karmal with the help of KGB. Same thing happened in Bangladesh with Mujibur Rahman, a very pro-Soviet leftist was assassinated by his own Marxist-Leninist military comrades.
It’s the same pattern everywhere. The moment they serve their purpose, all the useful idiots are either be executed entirely – all the idealistically-minded Marxist – or exiled, or put in prisons, like in Cuba. Many, many former Marxists are in prison.
Basically, America is stuck with demoralization. And unless, even if you start right now, this minute you start educating new generation of Americans, it will still take you 15 to 20 years to turn the tide of ideological perception of reality back to normalcy and patriotism.
The result? The result you can see. Most of the people who graduated in the ‘60s, drop outs or half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the governments, civil service, business, mass media, educational system.
You are stuck with them. You can not get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You can not change their mind even if – even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logical behavior.
In other words, this people are – the process of “demoralization” is complete and irreversible. To get rid society of these people, you need another 20 or 15 years to educate a new generation of patriotically-minded and common sense people who would be acting in favor and in the interest of United States society.
Interviewer, G. Edward Griffin: And yet, these people who have been “programmed” and as you say, in place who are favorable to an opening of the Soviet concept. These are the very people who would be marked for extermination in this country.
Most of them, yes. Simply because the psychological shock when they will see in future what the beautiful society of “equality and social justice” means in practice, obviously, they will revolt. They will be very unhappy, frustrated people. And the Marxist, Leninist regime does not tolerate these people. Obviously they will join the league of dissenters, dissidents.
And like present United States, there will be no place for dissent in future Marxist-Leninist America. Here, you can get popular like Daniel Ellsberg and filthy rich like Jane Fonda for being dissident, for criticizing your Pentagon.
In future, these people will be simply “pfft”, squashed like cockroaches. Nobody is going to pay them nothing for their beautiful, noble ideas of equality. This they don’t understand and it will be greatest shock for them, of course.
The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years. Actually, it’s over fulfilled because demoralization now reaches such areas where previously not even comrade Andropov and all his experts would even dreamed of such a tremendous success.
Most is done by Americans to Americans. Thanks to a lack of moral standards. As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore. A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures – even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him concentration camps, he will refuse to believe it until he get a kick in his fat bottom.
When the military boot crashes, then he will understand. But not before then. That is the tragic of the situation of demoralization.
Stage II. Destabilization
The next stage is destabilization. This time, subverter does not care about your ideas and the patterns of your consumption, whether you eat junk food and get fat and flabby. Doesn’t matter any more.
This time it takes only two to five years to destabilize a nation. What matters is essentials: economy, foreign relations, defense systems. And you can see it quite clearly that in some areas, in some sensitive areas such as defense and economy, the influence of Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic.
I could never believe it. Fourteen years ago when I landed in this part of the world the process would go that fast.
Stage III. Crisis
The next stage of course is crisis. It may take only up to 6 weeks to bring a country to the verge of crisis. You can see that in Central America now. And after crisis with a violent change of power structure and economy, you have so-called a period of “normalization”. It may last indefinitely.
Stage IV. Normalization
Normalization is a cynical expression borrowed from Soviet propaganda. When the Soviet tanks moved into Czechoslovakia in 1968, comrade Brejnev said: “Now the situation in brotherly Czechoslovakia is normalized.”
This is what will happen in United States if you allow all the shmucks to bring the country to crisis. To promise people all kind of goodies and “paradise of earth”, to destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principal of free-market competition and to put a “Big Brother” government in Washington, D.C. with benevolent dictators like Walter Mondale, who will promise lots of things, never mind whether the promises are fulfilled or not.
He will go to Moscow to kiss the bottoms of new generation of Soviet assassins. Never mind he will create false illusions that the situation is under control. Situation is NOT under control. System is disgustingly out of control.
Most of the American politicians, media, and educational system trains another generation of people who think they are living at the peace time. False.
United States is in a state of war. Undeclared total war against the basic principals and foundations of this system.
And the initiator of this war is not comrade Andropov, of course. It’s the system, however ridiculous it may sound, the world communist system or the world communist conspiracy – whether I scare some people or not – I don’t give a hoot. If you are not scared by now, nothing can scare you.
But you don’t have to be paranoid about it. What actually happens now, that unlike myself, you have literally several years to live on unless United States wake up. The time bomb is ticking. With every second the disaster is coming closer and closer.
Unlike myself, you will have nowhere to defect to. Unless you want to live in Antarctica with penguins. This is it. This is the last country of freedom and possibility.
G. Edward Griffin: What do we do? What is your recommendation to the American people?
Well, the immediate thing that comes to my mind is of course, there must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism is number 1. Number 2 to explain to them the real danger of socialist, communist whatever “welfare state”, “Big Brother” government.
If people will fail to grasp the impending danger of that development, nothing ever can help United States. You can kiss goodbye to your freedom, including freedoms to homosexuals, to prison inmates. All this freedoms will vanish, evaporated in 5 seconds, including your precious lives.
The second thing – the moment part of the population is convinced the danger is real, they have to FORCE their government – and I am not talking about sending letters, signing petitions, and these beautiful, noble activities. I am talking about forcing United States government to stop aiding communism.
